Fluency Practice: The goal of reading is comprehension. In order to achieve this, a reader must be fluent. Fluency allows a student to focus on meaning rather than word identification. Readers must recognize words automatically, with little effort. To help achieve this for your child, please practice "Real Words."

Each time your child rereads this list, you will notice his or her word reading become more rapid and automatic. The Words are cvc (consonant-vowel-consonant) words, which are closed syllables.
